What to show your music teacher each week

Lessons are short. The more clearly your teacher can see your week, the more of the lesson goes to the next step instead of to guessing. Three things are enough.

How much, and on what

The total since the last lesson and the time per category. “Two hours, mostly on the new piece, ten minutes of scales” tells your teacher more than “I practiced a lot.”

Which days

Six days of twenty minutes and one day of two hours have the same total but different results. A day-by-day table shows the rhythm of your week.

One question

Bring one specific question, such as a passage, a rhythm or a sound you could not get. The log tells your teacher how much you tried; the question tells them where to help.

Low weeks are information too

A short week is not something to hide. If the log shows little practice, your teacher can adjust the plan, shorten the assignment, or suggest how to fit practice into a busy week.

Showing it quickly

Whatever you use, the log should be ready to show in a few seconds. In Practice Log n Share, the Share view opens with the totals per category and a table of each day since your last lesson; nothing is sent, you just turn the screen toward your teacher.
